Truthfully, I was going to have us charge ahead with more literature, but I believe it would be best to put that on pause because I love discussions and it wouldn't be as beneficial to have reading and questions without discussion. I hope this is not just me that believes this?
So, Mrs. Nietsche has been extremely kind in getting us to the lab on such short notice! This way, we can utilize today minimally to begin your research process!!! This is why I said, send me your topics--for those who did, today will be smooth sailing. If you have not yet, before you do anything else, send them to me right now. If I gave you feedback and you have to make a decision, email me as well. I would like to know the results of your discernment .
Task:
Today you will be finding websites or books in the library that are reliable and trustworthy resources. Now remember, a reliable source is one that has references, exists as a reference and cannot be updated by any member of the public community that wishes to comment or add information. Therefore, wikipedia and other similar media are out of the picture.
Last time, I asked you to bring in note cards where you would fill out necessary information--instead you will be creating your note cards on Microsoft word, this way you can save it to utilize when you are compiling your actual paper.
YOU NEED TO HAVE 5 NOTE CARDS MINIMALLY* (Bold= Important)
Sources: When looking for sources here are some options:
|
|
Making Source Cards: Back Side- Find 5 quotes that you can utilize in your paper. If you are unable to find at least five, then it is possible that your topic is too narrow or the website is not adequate enough. On each of the note cards, you are to do this.
Front Side: There is the option of books
or
If you are using an online or web resource, you would follow this format:
Note that if it is just a website, then it may not have the article name and date of article. Rather you may just find the website having the title, url, and date last updated. Sometimes if the information is there then it is and if it isn't then it isn't. Normally source information is either at the bottom or top of a web page. However, remember to check because I always double check your sources at the end.
It is important that if you have questions, that you are persistently emailing me.
Here is the format that your note cards may take:
Note card 1: Draw a Giant Text Box and fill in the front, then another text box and the back.
My creative image for this would not post, but you are all very smart people and can draw text boxes for information.
Remember I want 5 resources and the wonderful thing about this is...you will email me what you have done before the end of the class for a grade!! Show me progress and I will be happy! If I do not receive anything--I will assume you twiddled your thumbs--better to send something then have that assumption effect your grade.
Good luck and happy searching!
ps Realism Short Stories Due! Remind me when I get back to tell you my realism short story experience- it was just too much!
